The third floor of the old restaurant had a reputation. Employees heard footsteps in empty hallways, caught glimpses of a woman near the storage rooms, and passed around stories about who she might have been.
Tessa dismissed most of it as workplace folklore—until one night, she saw the woman herself.
But the more Tessa listened to the stories afterward, the more something bothered her. Nobody knew the woman’s name. Nobody knew when she had lived there or what had happened to her. Yet generations of employees had filled in those missing pieces until the person behind the haunting had almost disappeared completely.
So Tessa began doing something different whenever she went upstairs. She spoke to her.
