St Ignatius Hospital Is Haunted
There is nothing quite like the feeling you get when walking into the remains of what was once an active hospital. The St Ignatius Hospital is no stranger to this emotion. In 1893, St Ignatius Hospital was the first hospital to serve Whitman County. The first patient was a pneumonia case. In the first month, ten were admitted. Three were released and seven remained. Could the spirits of those who passed while residing inside this infamous building still be roaming its halls and rooms today? What do they want? Is there a message from their lives that they desperately want to communicate with the living souls of today.
The Grim History of St Ignatius Hospital
The first death at St Ignatius Hospital was recorded in June of 1893, when F.E. Martin, a railroad employee, was crushed between railroad cars. Some say that his ghost resembles the dismembers corpse that fell victim to the accident. He is just one of the ghosts known to walk the halls. Many other spirits seem to still choose to reside in the hospital. Other ghosts or specters may be trapped here, with no clear way to escape. Are they seeking help from the living to help them cross over to a better existence?
A New Chapter For St Ignatius Hospital
The hospital was sold in 1968, but the building stayed open until 2003 and housed developmentally disabled adults in the bottom floors. It’s no wonder that the halls of St Ignatius Hospital still hold the confused energy of the many who once called this place home. All that remains now are the spirits of the past, and the bodies of the living seeking answers to the paranormal activity taking place here.
On this episode we learn about its haunted past and who still lives there today.
